Relaxing city garden

The brief for this project was to transform a shaded, uneven garden into a brighter, modern and relaxing space. The plot is also set at an awkward angle that needed to be bought into balance with the rest of the space. I used a retaining wall to create layers within the space and a sense of movement from the new porcelain terrace adjacent to the house, into the relaxing areas of the garden. Adjoining circles create relaxing sense of flow and the soften the angles of the fence line. Using gravel in the first reflects light back into the space and compliments the warmer tones in the wall and porcelain tiles. The new grass is set to frame the pair of existing apple trees. and practically requires less upkeep. I also implemented a new planting and lighting scheme designed to add structure, texture, reflection and and shadow for year round enjoyment.
